Anatolian frame drum
Anatolian frame drum

Frame drum made in Anatolia with colorful paintings depicting a dervish dancer. This drum is played with fingers/hand, while holding it with the other hand at the crescent-shaped cutout in the frame. Inside the frame metal rings are hung, to give an extra rattle/jingle effect while drumming.
This drum is made with a simple wooden hoop and goat hide, and decorated around the frame with some shiny fabric. It is not of particularly high quality material and craftmanship, but the sound is actually quite nice and steady, not much depending on temperature or moisture qualities of the air.
Please note: this drum might not be the best choice for shamanic and other heavy ritual work. Instead it is much more suitable for what is was originally made for; just a nice rhythm instrument. Can maybe be used nicely in settings such as women's circles, drum circles and (children's) workshops.
Sizes: 45 centimeters diameter, 6,5 centimeters deep.
Because of the not particularly high quality of the materials used for this drum, the price is accordingly kept low.
