Antique bronze phurba from Nepal. This phurba is a very old one already. As can be seen on the pictures, it clearly shows the signs of its age and previous usage. Over the years, a mixed layer of debris, patina and oxidation has built up. The oxidation also caused some corrosion to the blade, as can be seen on the pictures.
Design characteristics:
Pommel: Vajrakilaya, the main deity connected to all phurba activities.
Handle: a vajra (dorje) symbol.
Blade: The blade is held by an abstract representation of the mythical watermonster Makara. On the blade some naga symbols can be seen.
This phurba has a length of 20 centimeters and weighs 189 grams.
Read more about the design symbolism and usage of the phurba in the general description of the webshop-collection "Ritual Attributes; Phurba's".
