Antique bronze phurba from Nepal. This phurba is a very old one already. As can be seen on the pictures, it clearly shows the signs of its age and previous usage. Over the years, a mixed layer of debris, patina and oxidation has built up.
Design characteristics:
Pommel: a single-headed Vajrakilaya, the main deity connected to all phurba activities.
Handle: a combination of the vajra (dorje) and shrivatsa (endless knot) symbol.
Blade: intertwined naga's facing upwards. The blade is held by an abstract representation of the mythical watermonster Makara.
This phurba has a length of 21 centimeters and weighs 244 grams.
