Beautiful authentic Indian tikka box. A tikka box is a traditional Hindu ceremonial item, used to store the sacred powders like kumkum and vermillion that are used for applying the tilak or bindi dots on the forehead / third eye area.
This is a handcarved box with three compartments and a lid that swings open sideways from the iron nail hinge. It is an antique one with a beautiful high gloss patina. The lid shows the remnants of some simple geometric decorations.
A unique item to be used again as a storage box for your sacred powders, dried herbs or small trinkets. Or of course simply as a wonderful item with an age old history on your altar or bookshelf.
Sizes; approximately 17 centimeters long, 6 centimeters wide and 5 centimeters high (measured including the lid). Weight is 172 grams.
