This copper alloy figurine has been made somewhere in the 19th - early 20th century in the Jajarkot district in West Nepal. The style of the figurine, with somewhat elongated features, is made with the 'lost wax' metal casting method and is very typical for the semi-nomadic people living in this area.

In West Nepal, figurines such as these are usually made after the death of a person. They depict often soldiers, warriors, riders, shamans or village people. The figurines are made as part of the rituals and ceremonies following the death of a person and are used as votive offerings during the rites. After that, they are usually placed in shrines and temples, where they continue to receive offerings.

Tho it is difficult to say eaxctly what this figurine depicts (maybe some kind of warrior on horseback, holding a sword in his right hand?), it is a beautiful, unique piece of primitive, tribal art and will be a great addition to your altar. This figurine is not just a decorational, collection-worthy statue, but is an actual depiction of a deceased person and has a history of decades of being worshipped. It is very much alive and should be treated with the utmost respect and friendship.

Sizes; approximately 13 centimeters length, 12 centimeters high, 4 centimeters wide. It weighs 252 grams.

Please look at the pictures to observe the condition of this item; this one clearly shows some (shallow) corrosion from standing in a damp (outside) environment for a long time. Therefore the price for this item is a bit lower than usual.
