Antique wooden phurba from Nepal. Artisan handcarved and with some imperfections and damages due to its age and previous usage.
Design characteristics:
Pommel: a three-faced Vajrakilaya, with three different facial expressions; joyful, wrathful and peaceful. As can be seen on the detail pictures, there once must have been an extra decoration on top of the phurba, which has been lost in the depths of time, but of course this phurba is still ready to do the work. Handle: a combination of a vajra (dorje) and shrivatsa (endless knot) symbols. Blade: intertwined naga's facing upwards and sun & moon symbolism.
This antique phurba has a length of 17 centimeters and weighs 36 grams.
