Antique wooden phurba from Nepal. Artisan handcarved and with some imperfections and damages due to its age and previous usage (most noteable of which is a small damage to the top of the pommel, as can be seen on the detail pictures). Around the handle there are still the remains of old fabric, that was given to this phurba (as blessing/empowerment/consecration) by its previous owner.
Design characteristics:
Pommel: a three-faced Vajrakilaya, with three different facial expressions; joyful, wrathful and peaceful.
Handle: a vajra (dorje) symbol in between shrivatsa (endless knot) symbols.
Blade: intertwined naga's facing upwards and sun and moon symbols. The blade is held by an abstract representation of the mythical watermonster Makara.
This antique phurba has a length of 19 centimeters and weighs 50 grams.
