Antique wooden phurba from Nepal. An artisan handcarved masterpiece, with some minor imperfections and damages due to its age and previous usage, but overall still in very good condition. Around the handle there are still the remains of old fabric, that was given to this phurba (as blessing/empowerment/consecration) by its previous owner.
Design characteristics:
Pommel: a three-faced Vajrakilaya, with three different facial expressions; joyful, wrathful and peaceful. And above this face, on top of the phurba, also a three-faced typical Nepalese 'namaskara mudra' figurine can be seen.
Handle: a vajra (dorje) symbol in between some shrivatsa (endless knot) variations .
Blade: intertwined naga's facing upwards and some trident and sun & moon symbols. The blade is held by an abstract representation of the mythical watermonster Makara.
This antique phurba has a length of 26,5 centimeters and weighs 79 grams.
