Amongst the pantheon of Hindu deities, the image of Ganesha is probably one of the most well-known ones; the (demi-)god with the elephant-head.
As the son of Shiva and Parvati, who together represent the optimal unity of the kosmos, Ganesha stands for dynamics such as new beginnings, first impulses and new roads. He is called upon by Hindu people when starting new paths, a new career or moving to a new house. And, being the patreon of travellers, the image of Ganesha can often be seen next to roads and crossroads.
Ganesha provides those calling upon him with a number of important qualities when moving onto these new paths. He is known as the god of wisdom, knowledge and prosperity and can help in overcoming difficulties on the road or even clear away the blockages entirely, thus helping to make the new path a success.
This figurine of Ganesha is made from brass. It is approximately 21 centimeters high and 12 centimeters wide. It weighs 544 grams. This is a back-less, flat statue, ideal to be used at the rear of an altar or if you have only a very small space for it. As can be seen on the pictures, the decoration is done in a simple way, not very finely detailed. But overall it is in good condition and will make a nice altarpiece.
