Vintage Tibetan pendant made with a nice piece of coral.
Mediterranean sea coral came into Himalayan regions hundreds of years ago as a very high valued trade currency. Ever since then, coral has been considered a very auspicious material in those regions. Its bright red color is associated with blood and lifeforce and believed to bring its owner good health and longevity and attract good fortune.
Please look closely at the pictures to observe the condition of this item. As can be seen on the pictures, a small hole has been drilled through the branch just underneath the beadcap, so probably the Tibetan silver beadcap in which it has now been set, is a more recent addition to the piece. Also some glue residue can be seen on the coral. Because of these reasons, the price for this piece is kept a bit lower; it needs some good care and careful cleaning, or maybe some restauration work if desired.
