Glass beads are known from Europe since ages. The first glass bead in the Netherlands was dated 2000 BC. This bead came all the way from Mesapotamia and illustrates the global trade of goods even so far back in time.
In the roman age we also find a lot of glass beads in the form of melon-beads who resemple this fruit. 12 BC - 450
In the Netherlands more glass beads are found around 500 BC (Ironage) in the form of eye-beads; a coloured bead with an eye in it. Sometimes these were mixed with ceramic beads.
This mix we sell is a mixture of different glass beads not based on any specific tradition but their resemblance to melon beads and old glass beads is obvious. You can use them for your ritual items, made into necklaces and more.
They are 0.3mm usually but their size differs. The mix is sold per 10 beads of different colours that we handpick for you randomly.
