Beautiful heavy bronze incense burner featuring the figurine of a duck on the lid.
The duck, especially the Mandarin duck, is a traditional Chinese symbol. Since Mandarin ducks are known to mate for life, items with their depiction on it are a traditional gift at weddings. They symbolize love, devotion, fidelity and marital bliss.
On two sides of the cauldron the Shou-symbol can be seen; a traditional Asian symbol representing longevity; a long, vital, happy and healthy life. The Shou symbols are flanked by the depiction of bats, a traditional symbol for luck and good fortune (because of the similarities in the pronunciation between the Chinese word for 'bat' and that for 'happiness').
