Very well made iron and copper phurba with multiple dorje symbols. Recently made in Nepal by a traditional blacksmith. Very nice, medium-sized phurba with a good heavy weight.
Design characteristics:
Pommel and handle are made of red copper and show multiple dorje symbols, a widespread symbol in the iconography of both buddhism and hinduism. The word 'dorje' (or in Sanskrit 'vajra') translates both as 'lightning bolt' and as 'diamond'. The dorje symbolizes the true nature of the universe and reality; the endless, ultimate emptiness in which all possibilities exist. As both a meditative symbol and (physical) ritual attribute it supports in 'cutting through the crap of the mind', finding a clear path through the diversions of the 'monkey-mind' and ego-chatter, seeing what's real and what's not. The dorje is said to destroy all kinds of ignorance and in this way helps in gaining true insights.
Blade: the blade has been kept plain, without decorations. The blade is made of iron.
This phurba has a length of 20 centimeters and weighs 188 grams. Only one available.
