Beautiful vintage Tibetan mala made with beads from natural yellow-brown jade, with a handcarved jade buddha pendant as guru bead. Also all the beads are handcarved; in most of the carvings the face of the buddha can be recognised. Some of the beads are almost semi-transparant when held up to the light, other ones are more milky clouded.
Mala's such as this one are usually not worn as daily jewelry. Rather they are held in the hand during spiritual practices, where they are used as a supportive tool in keeping focus and concentration and to keep count of the number of repetitions of mantra’s or prayers.
This mala is from vintage origin and therefore might have little damages and imperfections that come with age and previous usage. The red silk tassel is the most obvious example of this; this one is not in great condition anymore. But (more important); the beads and buddha-pendant are overall in good condition.
Sizes; approximately 26 centimeter (measured without the pendant and tassel). The buddha pendant is approximately 25 millimeters long and each bead measures approximately 13-15 millimeters. The beads are strung on brown cord. Total weight; 99 grams.
