In traditional Mongolian clothing, hats play a very important role, because they show the wearer's social status.
In design, generally a domed or pointed shape can be distinguished, with downward lines of stitches that resemble the rays of the sun. But within this general shape, there are more than 200 variations, that can be classified by ethnic group, purpose, style, age, gender and season.
These hats are made in the 'helmet'-style, a traditional style dating back to the Middle Ages, back then mostly worn by horseback-archers. This is an unisex style, worn by both men and women.
This set consists of 2 hats: the beige/black one is an adult size, and the brown/red one is child size. They are traditionally handmade from sheep leather, fox fur and horse hair, and lined on the inside with warm sheep skin.
Only one set available.
