Traditional necklace from Nepal, known as 'rakshya mala' or 'ratcha mala' ('protective mala'). The base of such a necklace is usually a string of sacred beads, onto which a number of different handmade pendants are strung, serving as amulets and talismans.

This necklace combines rudraksha beads and black rita beads. The (slightly polished) 5 mukhi rudraksha beads are dedicated to Lord Shiva and the rita beads are associated with the great Mother Goddess Kali, thus symbolizing a harmonious balance between the divine masculine and feminine.

On this base, multiple traditional items have been attached; handcarved and engraved yak bone pendants, bone beads, yak teeth and a small cow horn in a Tibetan silver setting as a centerpiece.

Sizes; total length of this necklace is approximately 72 centimeters (measured only the string of beads, not including the pendants), total weight is 160 grams. The central horn pendant is approximately 9 centimeters long.

This necklace has been recently made in Nepal. The style is a traditional one and thus similar ones can of course be found (we also have a few more of them elsewhere in our webshop), but since these necklaces are individually handmade by local craftsmen, they are always slightly different and unique in appearance.
