Beautiful vintage Nepalese pendant made with a very large wild boar tusk set into a three-faced lion-headed bronze setting.
As can be seen on the pictures, this bronze setting has once been decorated with some paint in typical Tibetan style gemstone colors such as coral red and lapis blue, but most of the paint has worn off over time. The bronze setting itself however is still in very good condition, as is also the really big wild boar tusk.
The relatively heavy weight tells that the (naturally hollow and thereby fragile) tusk has been thoroughly strengthened by pouring in a good filling, turning it into a now very solid piece. And this great care shows also in other aspects of the pendant; from the brass rings in the lions' beaks and the eyelet on top that have all been carefully soldered shut so they won't come off easily, to the shiny brown polishing on the tip of the tusk. This pendant is really a very good piece of work and will make a beautiful amulet to connect you with the powerful spirit of Wild Boar.
Sizes; approximately 22 centimeters long, measured going along with the outside curve, or 18 centimeters long, measured going along with the inside curve. Weight is 99 grams.
