Vintage mala bracelets from Nepal, made with a specific kind of black seed-beads, known in Nepal as 'rita' and in India as 'chirmi' or 'ratti'. These seeds are found in the forests of the Indian Aravali mountains. They are associated with the goddess Kali and worn for protection against bad luck, negative influences, malignant forces and black magic. Also they are associated with Maha Laxmi, the goddess of wealth. It is said she likes to stay near to these beads and therefore rita beads are kept in wallets, lockers, cash boxes and hand bags to attract financial prosperity.
The rita beads used in these bracelets are between 13-15 millimeters diameter. They are strung on yellow and red macrame-cord, which closes with a sliding knot, so they can be adjusted to your personal size. The bracelets have a circumference of approximately 20 centimeters, measured the smallest possible size. So a few centimeters can be added here by using the sliding knots.
Multiple ones available, we will handpick the exact one for you at random. Please note: These bracelets are from vintage origin; they show signs of their age and previous usage.
