This thread is brought from Nepal, where it was blessed on the Durbar Square in Kathmandu, in the proximity of the statue of Black Bhairav, the protector of Kathmandu.

Thread like this is used as a simple, but strong amulet for protection and blessing. It is tied two or three times around the wrist of the right arm and with every knot good intentions, mantra's or blessings should be spoken or blown into it.

This can for example be done by the shaman or shamanic practitioner by tying the thread around a client's wrist at the end of a healing session, to give an extra blessing or protection for the next days, thus enhancing the effects of the session.

But of course it's not only in these professional relationships a thread amulet like this can be used. It can be used in all kinds of personal situations as well, for example by tying it with beautiful intentions on the wrist of your child, parent or friend. Of course, the more lovingly it's done, the stronger the effect.

The thread should stay on the wrist untill it falls off by itself (mostly somewhere between a few days and a few weeks); then its work is done.

Protective thread is available in several variations. This variation, #1, is a combination of 6 thin strands of yellow and red thread. Red in this thread is the symbol for life, love, passion and protection. Yellow stands for happiness, knowledge and a strong and sharp mind.

This protective thread comes to us via our friends at Shaman Bazar. It is sold per length of 50 cm (enough to tie around the wrist 2 times and make some good knots).
