Very nice red copper wallhanger in Tibetan buddhist style.
The central figurine on this plate shows two dragons surrounding a stupa; a sacred buddhist shrine. In buddhist iconography, dragons have various symbolic meanings. When they are depicted surrounding a stupa (a very traditional image in buddhist symbolism, that can be found on many different objects), they are shown in their role as protectors of the dharma (buddhist teachings). They combine great wisdom with strong protecting abilities. Also important in this regards is their capacity for transformation and metamorphosis; their ascribed ability to change for example their size and color, symbolizes spiritual development and eventually enlightenment.
This red copper wallhanger is from vintage origin, but overall in very good condition. The red copper has deepened to a deep, warm shade over time. Approximately 20 centimeters in diameter and with a weight of 387 grams.
Only one available.
