Small bronze figurine of Shakyamuni Buddha, often called the 'original' Buddha; a very important and highly revered spiritual leader in 5ht and 4th century BCE in Nepal and India (known by life as prince Siddharta Gautama), whose teachings would become the foundation of Buddhism.
Buddha sits in his famous pose on a lotus throne; legs crossed in vajra position (lotus position), right arm extended across the knee in bhumisparsha mudra (earth connection gesture) and left hand in the lap in dhyana mudra (meditation mudra). The dot on his forehead is known as 'urna'; it is said that from this spot a brilliant white light radiated, illuminating the whole universe. His elongated earlobes point to his former royal status (the earlobes stretched by wearing heavy jewelry) and the robe worn over his left shoulder would have been in the traditional monk's saffron-yellow color.
This small, but nicely made figurine is made from bronze in a dark color. It is 4 centimeters high and weighs 22 grams.
Only one available.
