Old buddhist amulets from Thailand. Amulets such as these are also referred to as 'votive tablets'. They depict for example the buddha in various postures, saints or famous monks. Amulets such as these are mostly given as presents at buddhist temples, after a donation or offering has been made. In this way, they help to raise funds for the temple and its projects.

They are blessed by buddhist monks and serve as talismans for attracting and protecting good fortune, health, wealth and love. They can differ in size and shape and are often worn as personal amulets in a little showcase around the neck, but are also placed under the foundations of new stupa or other temple structures.

Votive tablets can be made from all different kinds of material, such as stone, wood, bone, plaster, or (as in this case) metal.

The age from these little votive tablet amulets is hard to determine, but as can be seen by the beautiful ageing process, they sure weren't made only yesterday. These amulets will be a very nice adding to your altar, or make them a nice protective showcase so they can be worn as a personal amulet.
