Tingsha's are a special type of small handheld cymbals, originating from Buddhist and Hinduistic traditions. The word 'tingsha' comes from Tibetan language and can be translated roughly as 'hanging cymbals'.
Nowadays the tingsha's have found their way into lots of spiritual practices. Also in the modern western world, where their sounds are for example very well known to mark the beginning or end of meditational and mindfullness practices.
Also in traditional shamanism tingsha's are often used. When the two cymbals hit each other, they produce a high-pitch sound. The vibrations of this sound are for example used to harmonize, clear and stabilize the energy in a room or within a person's energyfield. The sound can also be used in a more diagnostic way; to check the vibrations, energies or spirits in the energyfield of a room or person. Or simply to mark the beginning or end of your personal daily ritual.
This recently made set of tingsha bells comes from Nepal and has been made from a good quality metal alloy and decorated with depictions of the Tibetan Buddhist Eight Auspicious Symbols. They are quite heavy; combined weight is 468 grams. Each cymbal has a diameter of 78 millimeters. They are tied together with a yak leather cord and produce a very good, clear, melodious sound with a long lasting vibration.
This set comes together wit its own storage case; a nice little pouch made with red brocade and yellow cotton lining, which closes tightly with a zipper.
Only one set available.
