Tingsha's are a special type of small handheld cymbals, originating from Buddhist and Hinduistic traditions. The word 'tingsha' comes from Tibetan language and can be translated roughly as 'hanging cymbals'.
Nowadays the tingsha's have found their way into lots of spiritual practices. Also in the modern western world, where their sounds are for example very well known to mark the beginning or end of meditational and mindfullness practices.
Also in traditional shamanism tingsha's are often used. When the two cymbals hit each other, they produce a high-pitch sound. The vibrations of this sound are for example used to harmonize, clear and stabilize the energy in a room or within a person's energyfield. The sound can also be used in a more diagnostic way; to check the vibrations, energies or spirits in the energyfield of a room or person. Or simply to mark the beginning or end of your personal daily ritual.
This set comes from vintage origin. It has quite some years of age and usage to it already, which of course means there might be some little scratches and minor damages on them by now. But overall, these tingsha's are in very good condition; they are made from a good quality bronze and have a very nice, warm, melodious and harmonious sound. They are decorated with the symbols for the well-known mantra 'Om Mani Padme Hum', the most recited mantra in Tibetan Buddhism, which invokes the boddhisattva Avalokiteshvara and calls upon the Jewel ('Mani') in the Lotus Flower ("Padme'); the Buddha nature that is the true core essence of all people.
Each cymbal has a diameter of 68 millimeters. Together they weigh 233 grams. The cymbals are tied together with a yak leather cord.
This tingsha set comes with its own storage case. This case is made from red copper and adorned with brass decorations of the Tibetan Buddhist Eight Auspicious Symbols. The storage case has an outside diameter of 85 millimeters.
Only one set available.
