These beautifully decorated wooden spoons are called 'tos karak', which means 'nine eyes', referring to the nine compartments in the scooper-part of the spoon.
In traditional shamanism, such as the lineage of Spirit of Wolf Shamans, tos karak are used as offering spoons during ritual. They are used to sprinkle milk or other sacred liquids around in the sacred area, such as the place of a kamlanie fire ritual, as an offering to the Great Spirits of Sky and Sun, the cardinal directions and the spirits of the place.
These tos karak are handmade from birch wood by an artisan woodworker in Tuva and come to us via our friends at Shaman Bazar.
There are multiple ones available. They are sold per piece. You can choose your favorite one via the selection-menu. When looking at the overview picture, we numbered them from upper left to lower right (the numbering continues further onto the numbering of the tos karak selection elsewhere in our shop, starting with #19 for the upper left).
The length of the spoons varies from 15,5 centimeters (the smallest one, #21) to 19,5 centimeters (the largest one, #23).
