Vintage brass oil lamps with a dutch origin. In dutch, this style of oil lamp is called "Snotneus", which translates as 'runny / drippy nose', referring to the fact that oil often leaks from the wick in the spout.

Of course the (always so economical) dutch people found a solution for this. After all, no drop of fuel should be wasted. So (in more elaborate models than the ones here) an extra backflow gutter was made underneath the spout, to catch the drops of runny oil and feed them back into the reservoir.

These oil lamps however are the more simple version. So small drops might leak from the wicks once they suck in the oil. So it might be a good idea to place them on a small plate or saucer when in use, but at least you can honestly call them "Snotneus"  :-) and they are a great way to connect with your dutch heritage.

These lamps are from vintage origin. They have been made from brass and show some minor signs of their previous usage. But overall they are in good condition.
