Vintage necklace made with Tibetan silver buddha-head beads with a mantra locket pendant. A small locket such as this one is a kind of portable reliquary, mostly used to contain small pieces of mantra scrolls (as is also the case with this one, as can be seen on the pictures), but sometimes other sacred objects and blessed items are added, such as fragments of prayer scarves, small charms and relics.
When worn as personal jewelry, it is often worn very close to the heart, where it serves as a daily source of protection and blessing.
The mantra locket on this necklace is made of red copper and decorated with brass mantra symbols and colorful glass cabochons
Please note; this necklace is from vintage origin and clearly shows the signs of its age. Please look closely at the pictures to observe the condition of this item. The Tibetan silver buddha-head beads show some debris and oxidation, but are overall in good condition. The copper mantra locket has a relatively good condition (except for some debris) on the outside, but shows oxidation/rust on the inside. Most noteable however is that this necklace needs re-stringing, since the closure is not in good condition anymore. Because of this, the price for this item is a bit lower than usual. But with some love and care, this necklace will be a great wearable item once again. One with history and character.
