Amongst the pantheon of Hindu deities, the image of Ganesha is probably one of the most well-known ones; the (demi-)god with the elephant-head.
As the son of Shiva and Parvati, who together represent the optimal unity of the kosmos, Ganesha stands for dynamics such as new beginnings, first impulses and new roads. He is called upon by Hindu people when starting new paths, a new career or moving to a new house. And, being the patreon of travellers, the image of Ganesha can often be seen next to roads and crossroads.
Ganesha provides those calling upon him with a number of important qualities when moving onto these new paths. He is known as the god of wisdom, knowledge and prosperity and can help in overcoming difficulties on the road or even clear away the blockages entirely, thus helping to make the new path a success.
This small figurine of Ganesha is made of brass. It shows Ganesha in a little less common manifestation; his 16-handed warrior-aspect. Each hand holds different objects and attributes, that symbolize his power to clear the road from obstacles.
This figurine is approximately 3 centimeters high and weighs 20 grams. As can be seen on the pictures, the detailing and decoration on this figurine is not of particularly high quality, but of course it can still be a nice item for all kinds of decorative purposes or perhaps to take with you on the road in your travel altar kit.
