Vintage Tibetan necklace made with yak bone beads/pendants on black macrame cord.
The beads/pendants on this necklace have been beautifully engraved with important symbols from Tibetan Buddhism:
* The turtle symbolizes longevity, but more specific; the idea of eternity and the continuation of life. And, because it is said that the whole universe is carried on the back of a turtle, it represents the point of contact and overlap between the universe, Earth and mankind.
* The pair of Golden Fishes is one of the Eight Tibetan Auspicious Symbols. It represents the liberation from samsara; the endless cycle of birth, death and rebirth, which comes with a lot of suffering in every phase. The fish shows us how to be truely be at one with your element can liberate you from a lot of these (often self-created) pains and fears.
* Also the Lotus Flower is one of the Auspicious Symbols. Just like the lotus flower grows from the darkest, muddiest depths, following the light up to the surface, where it becomes the most beautiful flower, it symbolizes the journey of one's soul on the path towards enlightenment.
This necklace is from vintage origin and because of that and the 100% natural origin of the beads, of course some little damages and imperfections can be seen.
The cord closes with a sliding knot, so can be adjusted to fit your personal favorite length.
