Antique wooden phurba from Nepal. Artisan handcarved and with some minor imperfections and damages due to its age and previous usage, but overall still in very good condition. This phurba is very nicely decorated with gold paint.
Design characteristics:
Pommel: a three-faced Vajrakilaya, with three different facial expressions; joyful, wrathful and peaceful.
Handle: a combination of a vajra (dorje) and shrivatsa (endless knot) symbols.
Blade: intertwined naga's facing upwards, sun & moon symbolism and a kalasha (ritual water vessel). The blade is held by an abstract representation of the mythical watermonster Makara.
This antique phurba has a length of 24 centimeters and weighs 81 grams.
