Very old wooden phurba from Nepal. Please look closely at the pictures to observe the condition of this item; due to its age and previous usage, it has some damages and imperfections, most noteable of which is the wear and tear to the blade. But it certainly has some great character and beautiful rustique appearance with a shiny aged patina.
Design characteristics:
Pommel; a three-faced Vajrakilaya, with three wrathful facial expressions.
Handle: a very abstract combination of the vajra (dorje) symbol with variations of the shrivatsa (endless knot) symbol.
Blade: intertwined naga's facing upwards and a trident symbol. The blade is held by an abstract representation of the mythical watermonster Makara.
It has a length of 31 centimeters and weighs 107 grams.
