Antique wooden phurba from Nepal. Artisan handcarved masterpiece with some minor imperfections and damages due to its age and previous usage, but overall still in very good condition. This one is quite unique in its appearance, the specific combination of carvings and symbolism on this one is quite rare.
Design characteristics:
Pommel and handle are formed by a very nicely carved 'namaskara mudra' figurine. The traditional three faces that are most often found on the pommel of a phurba, are in this case integrated into a sort of crown / headband on the head of the figurine. And on top of that, also a beautifully carved fish can be seen.
Blade: intertwined naga's facing upwards, a scorpio and centipede and some sun & moon symbols. The blade is held by an abstract representation of the mythical watermonster Makara.
It has a length of 25 centimeters and weighs 60 grams.
